28. The “Shamu” Plane
In 1988 we came up with a big idea: paint a Southwest Airlines plane like Sea World’s famous orca, Shamu. It was novel. It was iconic. And it was the first time anything like it had ever been done on a commercial jetliner. Not only did it capture the imagination of the public, but it also captured the attention of Sea World, who shortly after called and asked to join our roster of clients.
